Frequently Asked Questions
During Construction
- What is the communication process?
- Open communication is essential to ensure the success of any project, large or small. Until the start of construction, your main contact will be a member of our Estimating and Sales department. Once construction begins, our Production Coordinator becomes the primary point of contact. He pays frequent visits to each of our job sites and needs to be up-to-date on the latest project information to ensure adherence to our Scope of Work and schedule. Of course, you are welcome to contact any one of the Custom Craft team members with questions or concerns.
- How do inspections work?
- For the majority of our projects, we are responsible for scheduling all necessary inspections.
- At what times will people be working at my home?
- Our tradesmen generally arrive on site at 7:30 AM and leave around 4:00 PM.
- How should I interact with workers at my house?
- Our on-site tradesmen recognize that they are working in someone’s private home and are considerate of their surroundings. They are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, but please recognize that they are “on the clock” and be conscious of their time. Questions regarding the work at hand should be directed to our Lead Carpenter on site.
- Does Custom Craft use subcontractors?
- Yes. Over the years, Custom Craft has built strong relationships with local contractors who focus on specific disciplines such as plumbing, electric, HVAC, etc. Our subcontractors are expected to uphold the same standards of quality and proficiency that we expect from our own tradesmen.
- What if I want to make a change to the Scope of Work?
- Flexibility with the Scope of Work allows our customers to adjust the project as new ideas emerge or unforeseen events arise. Amendments to the Scope of Work are executed through Change Orders. If you want to change a component of the project, you should notify the Lead Carpenter or Production Coordinator. Based on the details of the proposed change, he can provide you with the associated cost or credit. The change will then be implemented after it has been reviewed and agreed upon by both you and Custom Craft.
- At what point will construction be complete?
- As the project draws to a close, our Production Coordinator will meet with you to walk through the project and discuss any final items that need to be addressed. We’ll work with you to close out these items to both your and our satisfaction. Once these items have been addressed, our role in the project is complete.
